We are independent publishers, based in the UK, specializing in law, criminology, criminal justice, policing and forensic psychology. Established in 1999, our aim is to offer the best in research, writing and scholarship, publishing books which will be of interest to students, academics, practitioners and others with an interest in law, crime and justice related issues. We now have well over three hundred books in print, with authors and editors drawn from all over the world.
Our series include the Cambridge Criminal Justice Series (published in association with the Institute of Criminology, University of Cambridge), Crime and Society Series, Crime Science Series and Policing and Society Series.
We are also winners of two major publishing awards, in 2008 we were presented with the Independent Publishers Guild Award for Academic and Professional Publisher of the Year, presented in recognition for 'establishing itself very quickly in its niche of criminology publishing, and for setting high standards in both books and customer services'. In 2009 we were presented with a second Independent Publishers Guild Award, this time for International Achievement of the Year, the judges comments included 'Willan combines excellent publishing in a clearly defined field with vibrant international marketing. Ina sector this is not particularly exportable, it has done exceptionally well.'
Willan Publishing are the exclusive distributors in the UK and Europe for all books published by Federation Press (Australia) (www.federationpress.com.au) and co-publish books in the Crime Prevention Studies series with Criminal Justice Press (New York) (www.criminaljusticepress.com).
